He is buried in Etaples Military Cemetery, Pas de Calais, France.

    He received multiple shrapnel wounds and was sent to Alberta Regimental Depot in Bramshott and admitted to St. Lukes War Hospital and then to the Canadian Hospital Woodcote Park Epsom. John recovered from his wounds and on 15 Oct 1917 returned to his unit the 50th Battallion which was still fighting in France.
    He was killed in action on 09 Aug 1918 and is buried at Vimy Memorial.

    WILSON, Roger "Reggie" of De Winton, a hamlet south of Calgary, Alberta. Veteran of World War I
    Private 184104. Signed up to the 89th Battalion, Alberta Regiment on the 11th December 1915 and was later transferred to the 31st Battalion. Actually from a Lake District Farm in Longsleddle, Westmorland, England; he moved to Canada and so joined up to the C.E.F. on the news that friends back home were doing the same but into the British army. He travelled to England along with his fellow troops on the 2nd June 1916 on the HMT Olympic, sister ship to the Titanic, which was serving as a troop ship during war time. He was Killed in action on the 1st day of the Battle of Vimy Ridge 9/4/1917 and is buried in Ecroivres Military Cemetary, Mont-st Etoi, France.
